Easy
Kill a boss within 10 seconds
The name is the strategy: make it easy. Nothing about this achievement requires skill under pressure — it requires bringing endgame firepower to the weakest boss in the game and refusing to waste the first two seconds.
Why the Spider Crab
It’s the first boss, killable in the early game with melee alone — which makes it by far the softest health bar on the roster. Its summon is also the cheapest and most repeatable: a beer and a short fishing cast. The Giant Piranha (Island 2) is the backup target if you want variety; avoid the Pufferfish and everything after — those were multi-minute fights even with upgraded guns.
One caution: the beginner boss lure’s Old Pike and Sunfish are mini-bosses — the game tracks that class separately (there’s a whole “eat a mini-boss” achievement). Whether a mini-boss kill counts for Easy is untested, so spend your attempt on a true boss.
The Setup
- Bring the DPS. Ideally the Island 5 Assault Rifle ($20,000 on the crate) with damage upgrades maxed — 100 damage per shot. SMG or sniper are workable mid-tier fallbacks; the shotgun was judged too weak for bosses.
- Sail back to the lighthouse island and buy a beer from the shop.
- Hand the beer to the lighthouse keeper — he empties it and returns the empty can bait. You can’t buy the can directly.
- Set up before you cast: reload, position on the shore, and pre-aim at the water where the boss will rise. The 10-second window’s exact start (spawn vs. first damage) is unconfirmed — pre-aiming makes the distinction irrelevant.
- Cast, and the moment the health bar appears, unload everything. Point-blank sustained fire; don’t reposition unless a dive-bomb physically forces you.
- Too slow? Buy another beer and go again — the whole loop is about two minutes.
Why Attempts Fail
- Trying it as a first-run achievement with the gear you originally beat the crab with — that fight took minutes with melee.
- Dodging first, shooting second. With endgame DPS you out-race its first attack cycle; second zero belongs to damage.
- Betting on a mini-boss counting. Maybe it does; nobody has proven it.
- Co-op zerg plans — boss health reportedly scales with player count, so extra guns may not net out. Solo with a maxed AR is the known quantity.
